MY TRIP TO HOLLYWOOD
August 3-6, 2001

Of course a tour of Marilyn sites would not be complete without a stop at her brentwood home. It was a very somber experience knowing that Marilyn died just a few yards away from where I was standing. The new owners of the house are not very appreciative of Marilyn fans and they have gone to the length of putting up a tarp over the gate so no one can see. Luckily, I talked my friend Gia into climbing onto John's shoulders (thanks soooo much John, sorry about the sparkles!) and taking some photos. So I never got to see her house until I got back and got the film developed. In case your interested the flower I'm using as my background on these pages is from Marilyn's house.

Saturday Night we went to a very famous Hollywood Restaurant called "Musso and Frank's". While there, I got to meet some of Marilyn's photographers. It was very exciting. I got George Barris, Joe Jasgur and Joshua Greene to sign their respective books for me. Later that night we had a silent auction, there was a very rare Japanese book from an exhibit that caused quite the bidding war between Mary and myself. When my number was drawn I couldn't believe it! It wasn't until I got home that I realized first of all the book opens opposite from ours so I had been leafing through the back of it instead of the front. Secondly, it was signed in the front by Mrs. Shirley De Dienes (widow of the late Andre De Dienes). Ricky can be seen below modeling another beautiful prize of MM lingerie.

Wow! What a busy day, I saw soooo much! I now had to rest up for what was sure to be an emotional day at the memorial....
