Marilyn Monroe Tattoos

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Marilyn's death I went ahead and got myself a Marilyn Monroe tattoo. Here are a couple of photos. I have a unicorn tattoo that I got about 8 years ago which is twice the size of the new Marilyn tatt but boy I sure don't remember it hurting as much as this one did. Must be the location.

If you have a Marilyn tattoo, take a picture of it and send it to be sure to include TATTOO in the subject line

I was a big fan of the TV show Miami Ink and especially of the resident female artist Kat Von D. I always thought if I was ever going to trust someone to give me a portrait Marilyn tattoo it would be Kat. When Kat left the show and moved back to LA, I attempted to contact her to see if I could schedule an appointment with her. I was going to be in LA in August 2007 for the Marilyn Memorial on the 45th anniversary of her death. That is when I found out she was going to have her own show called LA INK and they were currently accepting casting applications. I applied but never heard back. A week before my trip I was contacted by a Producer because they were interested in having me on the show. However it didn't happen something about not being able to get clearance to use Marilyn's image. I was disappointed but I decided to stop by and see Kat's shop anyway. Unfortunately, none of the artists featured on the show were there but I did get some photos taken inside the shop.

BTW, if you are looking for the shop, it is called High Voltage Tattoo not LA INK. So even though I didn't get a new tattoo for the 45th I still had a tattoo adventure. And who knows I will probably be going to Vegas in the next year (which is close enough to slip over to LA) so a tattoo by Kat still might be a possibility.
