PLEASE NOTE:  I am presenting information here on the events planned around the Marilyn Memorial.  I am not directly involved in the arrangements (except for a bus trip to the Del).  I have been receiving emails of a commercial nature regarding participating in the events.  I have no control over this and suggest you contact the appropriate club listed below.

1. What is the Marilyn Memorial?

For over 20 years, The Marilyn Remembered Fanclub, has hosted an annual memorial service for Marilyn Monroe on August 5.  All fans are welcome to attend the service in the chapel at the Westwood Memorial Cemetery in Los Angeles where Marilyn's original funeral service was held in 1962.  For information about the memorial service contact Greg Schreiner at cgriffis55@ca.rr.com

2. What is the Marilyn Memorial Week?

Over the years, thanks to the Immortal Marilyn Fanclub, other events began to take place leading up to the memorial service.  This year the events include the Homes and Haunts Tour, Pool Party and Lunch at Fox Commissary.  For information about these events contact Mary Sims at  mary@immortalmarilyn.com

3. What is special about August 2012?

Most fans are unable to attend every year so they save up for a special anniversary.  For example, my last trip was the 45th anniversary in 2007.  This year will mark the 50th anniversary of Marilyn's passing and it is expected to be the largest gathering so far of Marilyn fans from all over the world.  

4.  I am interested in going what do I need to do?

All fans are welcome to attend.  However, space is limited on some of the events.  You should be making your hotel arrangements now.  The events are happening between Aug 1 - Aug 5.  The Immortal Marilyn host hotel is the Orchid Suites and this is where the majority of fans will be staying.  Unfortunately, all of the rooms there are now sold out.  Some other hotel options close by include the Hollywood Celebrity Hotel and for a little more money the Renaissance.  Some fans chose to share rooms in order to split the costs.  It is also a great way to make new friends!   If you are looking to save on costs by sharing a room I would suggest you visit the Immortal Marilyn Facebook page to meet other fans and make arrangements.

I am organizing transportation to the Del Coronado in San Diego, where Some Like it Hot was filmed.  The date will be Wednesday August 1.  It is a 2-3 hour bus trip each way. We will be leaving the Orchid Suites at 8:30am to arrive at the Del approx 11am.  We will be departing the Del at 5:00pm and arriving back at the hotel at approx 8:00pm.

There is no organized tour once we arrive at the hotel.  I am providing transportation only.  Everyone will be on their own to get photos, eat, shop and explore the beautiful resort.  The cost will be $32/person.  PLEASE NOTE THE BUS IS NOW FULL.  If you would like to be put on a waiting list send me an email at  melinda@marilynmonroe.ca
