In 1997, Mattel released a set of three Barbie dolls portraying Marilyn in some of her most famous costumes. Being a huge Barbie doll fan I fell totally in love with this set and had to have it (but boy were these dolls pricey when they were released...at least here in Canada). The Barbie costumes are EXACT replica's of the originals worn in the films. Also, I don't think I have seen a more stunning display box then what these dolls come in. Each Doll comes with a certificate of authenticity and a doll stand.

This series consists of two dolls from the movie "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and one from "The Seven Year Itch". My personal favourite is the pink Marilyn she is just stunning.

Timeless Treasures Marilyn

In 2002, Mattel released the first in a celebrity line of Marilyn's. This doll is not a Barbie, she was made with Marilyn's features. However, I really was not impressed with her. I prefer the earlier series of dolls. This doll looks cheap to me. The dress is not an exact replica. The real Happy Birthday gown did not flair out at the bottom.

The second doll in this series is based on How To Marry A Millionaire and the doll comes with a second outfit. Unlike the first one in this series I was VERY impressed with this doll. The box itself is much nicer to display her in and the outfits are true to the originals...right done to the pair of glasses she has in her hands! I would highly recommend this doll.
